With collections that range from archaeology to herpetology to ornithology, the LSU Museum of Natural Sciences strives to preserve and display the natural history of the area. The museum is located on the university's campus, in the Foster Hall building. Collections focusing on biodiversity within the museum boast more than 3 million specimens, including a permanent collection of fish featuring some 270,000 types.
